It's FINALLY that time!!

Football season is officially here! MSU plays at La. Tech tonight in almost two hours!! We have been waiting for this day since the season ended last year at the Liberty Bowl!
I am excited and nervous at the same time!
I'm about to head to Emilia and John's to grill out and watch the game!
In other news, Phoenix was so much fun!! Not nearly as hot as it was in June!
But I am glad to be back even though Porter stayed in AZ when I flew home =(
My mom was already flying in next week to help keep Porter while I host a shower for Emilia, so he's going to stay with my parents and brother for a few extra days and then fly in with his Mimi.

I already miss him tons, but I've been keeping busy by doing the things I never get to do!

I also got a new sewing machine last week and made this today:

I was so happy how it turned out (and I didn't mess up once)!
I could not find any cute "fall looking" fabric at the fabric store for the applique but I found napkins at Wal-mart that were on clearance in this fabric! So I bought a few up to make some of these dish towels!
Ryan is going to hate it now because I plan on putting cute applique's and monograms on ALL of Porter's clothes ;)

Hopefully while Porter is "on vacation" I can get some cute fall long alls made for him--I got a great corduroy fabric (w/tiny embroidered footballs all over it!) in Phoenix that I can't wait to make into an outfit for him to wear to a fall football game!!
Hopefully I'll have pictures of it to post soon!

Happy Birthday.....to ME!!!

I love Birthday's! Especially mine!!
I actually used to celebrate mine for an entire week! This year is playing out no different:

(The Blind Boys of Alabama)

Last Thursday night, Nana came to Starkville for an early birthday celebration and took me to Philadelphia for the night for dinner at Miko Steakhouse (it just opened at the Silverstar Casino and was absolutely delicious!!) and the Mavis Staples and Blind Boys of Alabama concert--We only stayed for the Blind Boys (it was late and we were getting tired) but they were AMAZING!! I wasn't expecting much from the concert but it was one of the best I've been to in awhile--The Blind Boys of Alabama were GREAT, and as soon as I got home I downloaded some of their songs (especially their version of Amazing Grace--to the tune of House of the Rising Sun--SO GOOD); you can read more about them here! I never thought I'd be listening to gospel music in a Casino but it was so much fun!

Just a side note from the trip: Porter stayed the night with Emilia & DID NOT want to leave when I went to pick him up on Friday morning!! I think he had ALOT of fun playing with Coley!!

Saturday night Ryan took me out to eat with some friends and we had a great time!

Baby Lane joined us for dinner--she looks just like her Daddy!!

And tomorrow I'm leaving for Phoenix to visit my parents and brother and we'll celebrate there too!

This is a pic from last year on our trip to AZ

While there we are going to the Grand Canyon! This is my third trip to AZ, but the first where I'll get to see the Grand Canyon...I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures when I get back!

I'm also hoping I'll get to make a stop HERE & HERE while I am there!!
Pictures from Phoenix/Grand Canyon to come soon!!

It was bound to happen...

Porter has finally figured out that the ottoman's top comes off! We had put the ottoman away for about 6 months because when he learned to stand, he would pull up on it and chew on it....so when we moved I decided that it could come back out since he was over that stage. But it looks like it's about to go back into storage because all Porter does now is take the top off and climb in with all the blankets/throws!
"Quit taking my picture and give me back my passy....NOW!!"

Dancing music...

Porter LOVES to dance! Anytime he hears ANY music he starts dancing! And the music that makes him dance no matter what....The Law & Order theme music! It is so weird! As soon as he hears it, he immediately stops what he is doing and just stares at the tv and does his "dancing moves"
I finally got it on video to share!!
You can see on the video he is running from the kitchen when he hears it come on, and the second part is of him "gettting down" to his cartoons ;)

What was I thinking!??!?

This has got to be one of my more questionable parenting moves:
Buying Porter a Wiggles DVD!

Since we're moving in and unpacking this week I bought Porter a little happy the first day we were moved in, thinking it would keep him entertained while I unpacked and rearranged...
I didn't realize the affect it would have on my mental stability to actually watch and listen to The Wiggles hours on end!
It's especially annoying since that is the only TV we can watch right now, since our satellite isn't being hooked up until next week and apparently the box with all the other DVD's is the last one buried in the garage full of boxes!
But Porter does love it and it's so cute to watch him dance along with it!
ps--as I'm typing this I have one of the (annoying to adults) songs from the DVD in my head

you can tell this viewing was close to nap time =)

Oreo!

Porter got his first Oreo cookie this morning and LOVED it! He ate the center icing out before eating the cookie part ;)

It was just a little messy!
