Merry Christmas from The Hollern's

We didn't send out Christmas cards this year (maybe new years?? or valentine's day cards will get sent out!!?)--part being I just had NO time it seemed with Ryan being gone ALL. THE. TIME.  It seemed a lot more difficult with 2 kids this fall "season" :)  and the other part is I just didn't think I would be able to get a good picture (see photos from above of my "test" run of getting a pic of both kiddos????!!!)--I stressed about it until it was almost too late to take one THEN I decided to just do it! Well the morning I was planning on getting pics made/cards done, Porter decided to take a nose dive off the bed and had a huge bruise and scratch down the side of his face!  So needless to say, we have no card this year!

gobble gobble

again, going back one month to Porter's Thanksgiving program at school, and Thanksgiving day with the Payne's (My grandfather's family)...

Porter & Kamryn--
Kam is Porter's best friend :)

Bennett & Emma--Emma is 2 weeks older than Bennett.

Imagination Movers!

Porter loves the Imagination Movers, so when I got an email saying they would be singing the National Anthem at the Saints game, and were going to visit the Saints Game Day Kids camp before the game, I knew we could NOT let Porter miss this game!

Gumbo (the dog) and Sir Saint (both Saints mascots) were also at daycare, and I have to say Porter was probably more excited to see them ;)  And he (as well as the rest of the little kids) were a little confused about the imagination movers being there in person, and not on tv!  But it was a great time, and the guys could not have been more nice!!  They were great--and even gave Porter a signed CD when they were leaving, when they realized he hadn't gotten one yet--he thought that was "really cool" :)

halloween 2010

yes, I know it's nearly Christmas, but I don't think I ever posted our Halloween pics!

Porter was a "scary ghost" as he requested, and bennett boo was a lobster or crawfish as she was called down here in south louisiana!

sophie

bennett loves her sophie the giraffe, especially now that she's teething!

all eyes on sophie

It's a party!

We missed the Saints Christmas party since Ryan was flying in late the Friday night they had it, but we were able to make it to the Saints Kids Christmas party the next day (even though Ryan had to leave again that morning--lucky Emilia was in town for the weekend and was able to go and help me with both kids!).

We got to meet Santa, decorate gingerbread men, eat yummy food, and play at all the fun things they had set up in the indoor practice facility!!

bennett 4 months

It's been forever since I've blogged--I know I'm a slacker!  BUT things have been CRAZY around here the past couple months!  Tons of work/sewing, Ryan being gone for pretty much the past 3.5 months straight, and keeping up with Porter & Bennett...and of course all the Holiday events/parties/family time!

I have posts to post all the way back from October--maybe I can catch up :)

But here is Bennett at 4 months old!

At 4 months she is:
rolling over both ways
babbles constantly
loves to be talked to and played with
smiles constantly
just started laughing (but only does it for Porter!)
hates taking a bottle
sleeps all night like a champ
14 pounds 10oz (80%)
25" (75%)
rarely cries (unless mommy is gone and she has to take a bottle)
sits up with a little support
loves her hands and is constantly chewing on them
become attached to Daddy since he's been home about 7 days straight now :)
loves bath time & has the cutest chubbiest thighes:

Our pediatrician also told us to start her on rice cereal when she seemed "ready"--she must have heard the Dr. say this, because she woke up at 4:30am that night, and 2am the next night HUNGRY!  SO she got to try rice cereal shortly after turning 4 months.  She LOVES it :)   Our Dr. said to start with rice cereal and move on to other first foods about every 5-7 days.  So far she's had rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, and bananas.  She'll get applesauce next, along with some orange veggies, with the plan being have all the first foods down by 6 months.  Since starting on some solids, she's down to only nursing 4 times a day (every 4 hours) which is giving me a much needed break!

she quickly learned to open wide!

no elf on our shelf

I thought this would be the year that Porter would be old enough for "Elf on the Shelf" so we went and bought our elf, but I was going to wait until December to actually get him out--but of course Porter was having a fit for him, so we got him out of his box and I explained to Porter who he was and what he does (like watching over Porter and telling Santa when he's being good or bad).  We read the book, then I put our elf on the kitchen counter.
A few hours later, I found our poor elf in the trash can!  When I asked Porter why he would throw away our elf friend, he simply stated, "I don't want him telling Santa that I've been bad and to not bring me any toys"
So needless to say Porter does NOT like our elf :)  I've had to dig him out of the trash a few times!
