Goodbye 2009!

2009 was a GREAT year!  Busy, but great!
We can't wait for 2010 and know it's going to be great too!

Here's some more pics from Porter from all the Christmas week activities!

Porter and I both got new camera's for Christmas...this is how we look to each other now =)

Porter is really into "helping" now...he wants to help cook, and usually in the middle of everyone eating, he announces, "i done...i want to do dishes now" ;) let's hope that lasts awhile!

Porter also got a tricycle/helmet that he got for Christmas...he loves the bike, but he really thinks he needs the helmet on whenever he's outside!

Christmas morning...

Here are a few pictures from Christmas morning...I was surprised that this was all that I took!  I have a lot of video's that I'll edit and post later!

Porter had a great Christmas!  He was having so much fun!!  I have to say though his favorite toys are the $1 animals from wal-mart, of course =)

December 22, 2009 was...

...the day porter realized that he couldn't open all those presents under the tree yet!!

and he was DEVESTATED! When he left to spend the weekend with Pop there were no presents under the tree, when he got back, he didn't understand why he couldn't open all the new presents =)

Merry Christmas!

Remember all the Christmas Card pictures?
This is the one that made the cut--and the only one that turned out!
***and if you're friends or family, you probably haven't recieved your card yet! we were a *little* late getting them out =)

We hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!

My favorite ornament

This is by far my favorite ornament on our tree this year!
So sweet!! It was Porter's gift to us at his school Christmas party!

Just for fun...

Here's a video I took of Porter "practicing" for his big Christmas program song one morning this week...needless to say it was an *ahem* challenge to get Porter to practice ;)

Christmas program/party video's

This is the video of the kids singing their song, "Bells are Ringing".
Porter knew Pop was coming and that's him at the end yelling, "POP!" when he thought he saw him ;)

This is the "snoball" fight the kids had against the adults--Porter joined the adult side =)

Bells are ringing...

Porter had his Christmas program at "school" this morning.  I didn't get too many good pictures of the kids singing their song ("Bells are Ringing"), but he had a mini party in his room with the other kids that was a lot of fun!

Ryan was working out of town all week, and didn't make it home in time for the program, but Pop came and took his place =)  We're so glad he came, and videoed the program so Ryan can see it later!

This is when the kids first walked on stage--Porter wasn't liking all the flashing cameras!

Seeing Pop for the first time--he was sooo excited!  He had a meltdown the day before because he couldn't go to Pop's house right then!

Listening to the story of Jesus being born on Christmas day

He was so cute, and clapped when the story was over and  Jesus was born!

Porter's teachers had the cutest activity planned--they had a "snoball" fight with the parents with marshmellows!  Porter had a blast, though he did try to eat the first one ;)

Victory!!

Porter was very excited that when he left school, he got to go home for the weekend with Pop!
When we got back home, he refused to get out of the truck--he sat there while I went inside and packed his overnight bag!  He was not getting left by Pop!

I have some cute videos that I'll post when I get them uploaded and edited!

Christmas Card Picture...

Why is getting the perfect (or even just ok) picture for the Christmas card the HARDEST thing in the world to do!  I, of course, put our Christmas cards off until the last minute again--which means my options are the "print and pick up in an hour" variety!  Oh, well--maybe next year I'll get it done before December 15th!
I wanted to take Porter's picture outside, since my camera is awful, and I knew that the pics outside would turn out better...BUT of course, we have the flood of the century and it's been non-stop raining for a week...my backyard has turned into a lake so I quickly realized that I was NOT letting Porter out there anytime soon in his white shoes that go with his "picture outfit"!
So I got him dressed this morning, and really talked up his big picture day!  He was so excited, too bad that he didn't really understand??!

This is when I understood that it was going to be a long process:
(I have a million of these "cheesy" fake smiles)

when I tried to make him laugh, he thought I was going to tickle him ;)

an even bigger cheesier grin:

almost...if I wouldn't have cut off the top of his head (he was running toward me)

starting to get aggrevated with all the pictures...

I have several "finger in ear" poses...

this is the point that I realized, I may NEVER get the picture!

BUT after all of that (including about 75!! more that didn't make the cut) I did get a GOOD picture for our card...I'll post it after I get all my cards sent out!

Movie Date

Porter and I had a movie date this afternoon for "The Princess and the Frog".  I picked him up from school a little early and took him to see this great movie!  We both loved it!!  It is set in New Orleans and has great music--Porter got out of his seat and danced to every song =)

I told him when he got up this morning, that we were going to the movies IF he was a good boy at school and took a good nap.  You see he has a problem with naps at school--he doesn't like them!!  He has no problems at home, but at school he just doesn't want to go to sleep!  Well, when I got there to pick him up he was out cold, so I guess my bribery worked ;)

I love going to the movies, and Porter has definitely inherited this...he LOVES it!  We started taking him when he was about 22 months old and he has never had any problems being loud/noisy or sitting through the entire movie!  And he still gets in the movies free here, so he's a cheap date (if you don't count the $5 slushy and $4 candy)!

**as I'm sitting here typing this, a commercial for the movie came on--Porter got very excited and said, "I want to see frog mobie (movie) again!!"

Oh, and we saw the preview for "Toy Story 3" and I am counting down til June for that one--we can't wait!!!

Lucky number 13...

We had game and win #13 today!! whooo hooooo!!! Go Saints!
These past two games have been way too stressful and close, but a win's a WIN!

Can't wait to play the Cowboys in the Superdome next Saturday!!

It's that time of the year again ;)

Blackberry blogging (hopefully!)

I'm trying out blogging from my phone...I think I would keep up better if I could just send it from my blackberry!
As long as I'm testing it out, I might as well add a picture so it isn't that boring :)
This is a picture of porter last night after his happy meal! We just got a new mcdonalds down the road that has 80 cent happy meals!! With a drink and tax it's still less than $2 (who cares if they gave us a girl strawberry shortcake toy--it was 80 CENTS!!)
Now if you know me, you know that I do not eat potatoes at all in any form (baked, mashed, french fries, chips...you get the picture!) and I can honestly admit my child and husband have been deprived because I have NEVER, not once, cooked any type of potato dish in our house - So of course porter's favorite thing to eat in his happymeal (or anytime) is FRENCH FRIES! He constantly asks for "frenchy fryyyys" and wants to go to "donalds place" to get some :). We also found out at thanksgiving porter loves swwet potatoes--which is the one thing my husband (who eats anything) won't eat! It looks like I'm going to have to start cooking some potatoes around here!

Snow Day!!

It DID snow!!  It actually started snowing here around 10:30, and me and Porter were already in bed (the only reason I knew was because I could hear our neighbors outside, so I had to get up and check ;)), so we missed the actual snowing part here. BUT at Mimi & Pop's house it snowed and actually stuck!  We were headed up there Saturday anyway, so I got Porter up early so he could see the actual snow before it melted!  By the time we got there, it was mostly melted, but there was still some snow left, and Porter LOVED it!!
It was so funny seeing him in the snow--he had never seen any before =)

most of my pictures look like this (since he never stopped running!):

he quickly realized that snow does not taste like a SNOWBALL!

My camera died after about five pictures, but I got some pics on my phone...
Pop got Porter to throw snowballs at Mommy--he really liked that =)

Snow??

Ok, so it's probably not going to really "snow" here tonight, but we should see some flakes at some point!  Which means it's going to be COLD!  It has not been cold since we moved here 6 months ago!  It's been chilly, but not cold--I think our lowest has been in the 50's at night and the high 60's during the day!  I actually just turned on our heat for the first time this afternoon (for which it ran 5 minutes, and has not kicked back on since! ha!)
And you know what COLD weather means....

FOOTIE PJ'S!!

I picked up these cute jamma's today at wal-mart for Porter--he'll be nice and cozy tonight =)

As soon as we got home from school, I put them on Porter (he loves them)...our chilli is on the stove cooking, and we will be nice, warm, and cozy tonight!
We just wish Daddy (Ryan) was here with us--but he's probably cold enough in Indianapolis (without a jacket I might add, which--ahem--his wife TOLD him to take!  I don't think the vest is doing so much up there ;))
All these years living in the South have gotten to him and he's not used to that cold weather!

Hurry home Ryan, I'm sure by the time you get back in two weeks, it will be 70 degrees again!!

visting with Santa

Yesterday afternoon, before the game, we had to drop Ryan off at the airport =(, so we had a little time to kill before heading downtown--what better way to pass the time than to go see Santa?!
I had told Porter as soon as he sat on santa's lap, smiled, and was a good boy, that he could ride the train...he was excited and I was totally surprised that he actually liked Santa!  Of course, you can't tell by the picture..since he REFUSED to smile..argghhhh!!!!  BUT, he did tell santa some things he wanted (a skateboard??! ha) and showed him his elmo, and then gave him a kiss bye!  After he jumped down, he immediately asked to ride the train =)  We actually ran into a little girl from his class, so he got to ride the train with her!

I have no idea what happened to his hair by this time???

I must say, that going to see Santa in november is the way to go--no lines (last year I think we waited for over an hour!) and he got to sit on Santa's lap a LONG time!  The only downside, is now he wants to know when santa is going to bring him his skateboard =)

***and we will NOT be going back to see Santa--you HAD to buy a picture package before sitting on his lap and the cheapest one was $30!!!! (for a 5x7!!!)

WOW!!! 11-0!

Porter, my dad (aka Pop), and I went to the superdome last night for the Monday Night Football game against the Patriots...it was so fun!!  I have been to every home game this season, and I have never seen/heard the dome like that, in fact I don't think I've ever been to another FOOTBALL game like that ever (though I will say the MSU/AL game of '07 was pretty fun too)!  My ears are still ringing!  We had a blast, even though Porter fell asleep late in the second quarter and slept the ENTIRE 2nd half!  I have NO idea how he slept through all of the noise but he did...he woke up as soon as we got outside after the game and pretty much was wired until we got home...I guess the excitement wore off on him too ;)

Waiting to go in (Porter is NOT a fan of having his picture made these days!)

Porter thought it was really cool to wear Pop's visor!

Go SAINTS!! Here's hoping for 12-0 next week!

YUMMY!!

While we were in Columbia for Thanksgiving, we took Porter to Jack's Sandwhich shop for lunch one day.  They have the best, greasiest hamburgers and chocolate milkshakes!
Porter had his FIRST chocolate milkshake and let's just say it probably won't be his last!!  He loved it, and was so happy!!

There was literally nothing left when he was finished!

Happy Turkey Day!!

We spent a week at Nana's with the cousins and Porter had the BEST time--we all did!!

Ryan did a lot of this...

Porter did a lot of this...
(he followed Allison EVERYWHERE...and constantly asked, where allison??)

On Thanksgiving day, we went on A LOT of hayrides...Porter couldn't get enough:

On one hayride, we went to the barn...Porter really wanted to climb up in the top with the big kids...
unfortunatly daddy was with us, and we knew he would FREAK OUT! HA!

Porter had to settle for a walk around the barn with daddy:

**don't worry, when we went back, I let Porter climb up, don't tell Ryan!
(it was totally safe, and cousin Spencer held his hand the ENTIRE time)

Thanksgiving night, and everyone at Nana's:

We can't wait until next year!!

I will say it was so much fun to have Ryan at Thanksgiving!  This is the one holiday where almost all of our family who live off, get to visit, and Ryan had never been (since this is Egg Bowl week)!

And speaking of the Egg Bowl, GO DAWGS!!!

***Please note that I stole "borrowed" this picture from the Clarion Ledger & Rick Guy
