Movie Man

A few weeks ago, Ryan and I took Porter to the movies to see Monsters vs Aliens in 3D...as you can see he LOVED it! I was shocked that he would keep his glasses on, but he kept them on for most of the movie...the 3D scared him at first and he had to sit in my lap, but once he got used to it, he had the best time!

some more sewing...

Here's a picture of Porter's reversible jon-jon romper I made him for Church. I have had the pattern cut out for awhile so when I finally got my (NEW!) machine back from being fixed, I still wasn't convinced it was working right so I decided I'd try and monogram Porter's stuff before I started back on orders...sure enough it still wasn't quite "right". But it still made a cute outfit, and for the most part it's hard to tell that the monogram isn't quite perfect! It'll be the perfect outfit for church, since when I picked him up from the nursery last week, he had CHEETOS all over him!
And here's the ruffle pants I mentioned in the last post. They were really easy! I made a few mistakes and know now what I'll change up next time! Oh and they're already given away so I'm not even going to post them on my other blog.

sewing, sewing...

Last month, I had a week or so after we moved that I couldn't monogram because my computer wouldn't stay charged, so I was able to find some time to break out the sewing machine and take the serger out of the box for the first time and finally figure it out! I never have time to do stuff for Porter, so it was a nice break to be able to get some stuff done. I was also able to monogram a few things for me and him since I had some of our monograms saved on my machine!

The shorts were very easy and I got faster and faster (and better!) with each pair. Since that went so well, I decided to make him an Easter outfit and a couple more jon-jon rompers. The lining was tricky but I finally figured it out!
I guess it was a blessing in disguise that BOTH machines crashed at the same time, since it forced me to break out these patterns I've had forever and finally figure them out and also the serger!
The serger really makes it alot easier, and I use it for EVERYTHING now!
I just made a cute pair of girl ruffle pants (for practice) that I'll post a picture of on the other blog--they're size 18-24 months and I'll probably give them away to whoever wants them along with a matching tee!

I got this beach bag from target:
**i put almost all "beachy" items in our Easter baskets so we'll HAVE to go to the Beach--hint, hint RYAN! At least one good thing about Ryan's new job is he has TONS of hotel points (which I've already used up in my mind at the beach ;))

beach/sun hat for Porter:
I got this at target and am looking for some more so hopefully I can start selling them!

sweet porter...and EXCITING NEWS!!!!

He is so sweet with Mystique (Uncle Logan's bird dog)

giving love

AND the EXCITING NEWS!!
This will be the last pictures of Porter with "pappy" (what he calls his passy) because as of last week we have given it up!!
hallelujah!!
He is really starting to talk alot more and I was really tired of making him take his passy out. Not to mention, he seemed to be getting more and more attached to it...We had said at 1 year it had to go, well I took it away (except for at night) and then we traveled alot and sure enough he had it back full time, only then he knew it could be gone so he was very attached to it.
So I have been saying at 2, it has to GO, but then I knew we would be traveling alot right after his birthday and knew it would be hard during all of that. SO, the other day while he was swinging (which is is favorite thing in the world to do!) I just took it out of his mouth and said "pappy's are for babies, and you are a big boy so you don't need this anymore"
he kept repeating "pappy for baby" all day but not asking for it. After his bath he whined and asked for his pappy but I again told him he was a big boy and did big boy things and didn't need it. He came to me that night and asked "where pappy?" and again I said "it's for the babies" and he said "I BAABEEE!!" then proceeded to go get his backpack for me to look for one!
Since then, he has found one and when I took it cried but that has really been our only crying incident over it!
When he thinks about it, I'll hearing him saying (mostly to himself) "pappy for baaabeee" over and over--I guess he's just trying to remind himself so that he doesn't want it =)

regis and kelly in New Orleans

Me and Nana went down to New Orleans for a taping of Regis and Kelly last week. Let's just say it wasn't as great as we thought!!
We went about 10 years ago when they taped in a theater and it was alot of fun...well this year they were outside of the Harrah's casino and it was FREEZING! We stood in line for about 2 hours, only to get in and not be able to see ANYTHING--they had 2000 seats and we were probably number 1980 and 1981 going in the door! When they warmed up the audience, they annoucned that our show was being taped for Thursday and Miley Cyrus was the guest...well, we wait and wait and we're going through the show and I'm thinking "miley must be late because they skipped her segment and were taping out of order" but no she had pretaped her performance the day before!! we didn't even have any guests just a bunch of pretaped segments!!
Though I will say, I watched her performance on Thursday (our taping) and we sure didn't miss much!!
But we were still in New Orleans and had a good day! But I'll know if you want good seats you have to get there HOURS in advance next time (so I probably won't be going ;))

happy Easter!!

seeing what the Easter Bunny brought him in his basket
among the loot: a monogrammed beach hat, bathing suit, some new plates, a chalk board travel mat with chalk, sidewalk chalk, CANDY (porter's fave), and some toothbrushes and toothpaste for after all the candy =)

post-Church Easter Egg hunt with the fam--in his outfit that I made him!! it took a few mistakes but once I "got it" it was sooo easy!! I was sad that I couldn't monogram it (both machines went down two weeks ago and I still don't have them back--ugh!) but I loved the sweet fabric--it was a mint green and cream bunny toile print! So sweet for Easter!

keeping Porter "entertained" as we tried to get the perfect picture....

Finally:
(the best one we got!)

We had a great Easter....we had one little melt down when we got to church and there was a sweet old lady in the nursery--for some reason Porter is terrified of old (think 80+) ladies (but loves men!). After we dropped him off, and were in church waiting for the service to begin we hear a baby who sure sounded a lot like Porter to us, and sure enough I looked up and Mrs. Bobbie had a terrified Porter walking him down the aisle looking for us! He lasted in "big Church" through one song and then Ryan had to take him back to the nursery--he LOVED it when Daddy was there with him!! I think Bobbie enjoyed the help too with SIX active little boys in the nursery!

party in the park!

such a big boy now

having fun with daddy

not wanting his picture with mommy =(

remember this easter outfit??

Porter- Easter 08 (9 1/2 months)

Easter 09 (22 1/2 months)

It still fits!! Last year, when I ordered Porter's Easter outfit (late I might add since Easter was EARLY last year) they sent the wrong size and since it was too late to send it back we made it work (even though it was a little big)! Well, it still fits this year!
And since I was determined to make his Easter outfit this year, I let him wear it to the party in the park on Saturday before Easter! Luckily it's reversible so we'll get some more wear out of it this spring!

Easter Egg Hunt at the Park

A local Church in Columbia put on a "party in the park" day, on the Saturday before Easter. We took porter and they had an Easter Egg hunt as well! It sure didn't take him long to figure out how to hunt eggs! Especially when he realized that they had candy in them!! He had a great time and was exhausted by the time we left!

porter's first busted lip...

Poor Baby!!!

A few weeks ago, Porter was playing with "lo-lo" (uncle Logan) and climbed into the laundry basket and it flipped over and he landed right on his face! Poor thing busted his lip pretty good--and was upset about it, but I don't think nearly as upset about it as "lolo"! He came running to me with him with blood everywhere! It wasn't that bad though, but Porter kept putting his tongue up to check it out! He was over it pretty quick and was ready to get back to playing!
