Uh Oh...

While I was cooking dinner tonight Porter was getting a little hungry (and thus fussy), so I decided to give him the fries left over from his happy meal and some ranch dressing and let him snack a little before we had supper....
well I obviusly coudln't see him while I was cooking at the stove, but heard him yelling so I peeked around and this is what I found:

(he even had ranch in his eye lashes!)

Needless to say he was very pleased with himself! I quickly grabbed my phone took a quick pic (which he gladly smiled for), then paused dinner to rush him upstairs to get rinsed off...and just as I figured, the ranch started burning his poor little eyes about the time we got to the bathtub! Hopefully he'll learn his lesson about rubbing ranch dressing all over his face!

bye bye mullet...and bye bye curls =(

No pictures of the actual cut itself (there was only one hairdresser there this morning when we went to get it cut and I was busy holding him to keep him still!)

A funny story from the cut: Porter was starting to get a little restless so the hairdresser asked if he would like a book to look at to keep him occupied for the remainder of the cut...so she goes to a stack of books and says "what about a football book? would he like that?" and I was thinking the book was Hello, Bully! which is Porter's favorite book and said that would be great! Well she brings over the football media guide from this year!! So we turned to the page Ryan is on and Porter kept saying "dada" over and over so I explanined to her that was my husband! Well the media guide worked! Porter kept pointing to daddy and Jody!! He was so cute--he recognized all of his favorite people! So after the cut we went by Daddy's office so he could show Dada and go-jeee (as porter kept saying instead of Jody!)

Porter--16 months

Porter is almost 16 months so it's time for a little update on what he's doing now!
  • He is 33" and 23.2 pounds--75th and 25th percentile respectively--so he's tall & skinny!! Not something I would use to describe neither Ryan nor I!
  • Eats EVERYTHING and loves to "dip" his food (see below)
  • loves ice, but after two choking episodes he's not allowed to have any anymore!
  • still sleeps ALOT...though I've almost got him down to just one mid-day nap (we're working on it)
  • says alot of words and is starting to add more every day: ball, mama, dada, dog, goo (juice), kitty cat, up, down, shoe, piggies (wewere at Regina's the other night and they have guinea pigs and she was telling Porter to say "hi" to the piggies and he kept saying piggies over and over all night and even woke up saying it the next morning! He loved the guinea pigs!) no and some others that he says sometimes!
  • speaking of saying "NO"--he's heard me say it so much that he will now say "mama, NO, NO, NO!" when he's not happy with me! Usually after I've told him no about something!
  • loves to play outside (we are really enjoying the cooler weather) and loves to go see the ducks down at the lake and usually throws a screaming fit when we have to leave
  • still loves to dance to any music =)
  • is very busy all of the time and climbs up and down on everything
  • loves to see Ryan when he comes home and gets to excited! and when Ryan is here, he wants his daddy to himself--he pushes me away and says "no, mama"!
  • we just found out that he doesn't like to share his toys! Lane was over the other day and Porter was very possessive of his toys--it didn't bother him at all when I was holding or playing with her, but he didn't want her to touch any of his stuff (we're going to have to work on this)
  • Loves all balls and can spot one a mile away! Will also call anything round "ball" usually
  • has associated "night-night" with getting his paci and will usually say "night-night" before he's ready for bedtime or a nap just to go up to get his paci
  • very attached to his green blanket and cannot sleep without it
  • says "wooffff" when you ask him what a dog says (we're working on some other animal sounds now)
  • if you ask him where his nose/eye/mouth are he points them out on you!
  • will show you his teeth though when you ask and usually laughs about it!
  • if you ask "how old are you, porter?" will hold up one finger and says "one"
  • starting to sign a little and can do the sign for "more" pretty good
  • really really needs a haircut (getting one next week finally) to get rid of the "mullet"!

That's all I can think of now! It's time for the MSU/LSU game so I've got to go watch it!! Go DAWGS!!

Double Dippin'

Porter loves to "dip" his food! If I want him to eat his supper, all I have to do is add some ketchup, ranch, or honey mustard and let him dip away! He especially loves to have food in each hand and dip EVERY single bite!

Jump 'N G's

Kensi & Erin (our nieces) came from NC for the football game last weekend and we had so much fun with them! Porter really loves when they are here, and loves chasing them around and playing with them. On Sunday it was rainy and the girls had been so good the day before with all the tailgating and then the late game, so we decided we would find something fun they could do inside (but out of the house). I had heard about Jump 'n G's but had never been, so we took all the kids to jump and get out some of their energy!! They had so much fun! One funny story: Sunday was Liz's birthday and that morning Ryan & I had went and got a Birthday cake for that night when we grilled out and Kensi & Erin saw it and were so excited about it! Well after Kensi had been jumping for a little while she ran over to Liz and said, "Mommy this is your best birthday party ever!" =)

Game day with Porter...

This past Saturday was Porter's first football game this season. Last year he made EVERY game except the Ole Miss game and he was GREAT every single time, but I was a little worried how he'd do now that he's 15 months and very active, especially since we were going to tailgate before the game and his bedtime fell about one hour after kick off....

Well, needless to say he LOVED it--every part of it!! The band, cheerleaders ;), music, people, dawg walk, game, and cowbells! He especially loved the cowbells---baby Lane had a little cowbell at the tailgate and Porter loved ringing it, so we had to go and buy him his own for the Vandy game! He cheered and danced the entire game but conked out early in the fourth quarter. It was extremely disappointing to lose a game so close and very disheartening when you hear so many negative comments about the team/coaches/players afterwards but I've learned to put it behind you and start looking towards next week!

I was so happy (and relieved) that Porter had a great time and wasn't too fussy--I had ALOT of help for this game but the next one it'll be just me =)

ffffu-baw

Porter is still in AZ (but coming home very soon=)), so he has spent today watching football with Pop (my Dad) and Pop taught him to say football--he got him to do it when I was on the phone and it sounds more like fffu-baw---so cute!

Speaking of football, MSU won last night! Yay!! The game was GREAT and the stadium had a great atmosphere (minus the really really annoying negative fan that sits two rows behind us--UGH! He sat there last year and I was really hoping he would be GONE!! I mean why come to the game if you're just going to yell how stupid every coaching decision/ player is--he even got mad several times when we would do something good--so Mr. SEC C, Row 38, seat 30ish: DON'T COME BACK but if you choose to do so I will continue to give you dirty looks! ) Other than that, it was so fun to tailgate and be back in the season again, of course I brought my camera yet took no pictures so here's an old pic (May @ his birthday party) of Porter that I love!

more outfits Ryan's going to hate***

As much as I'm going to LOVE being able to go to the game this weekend and enjoy it without having Porter, I really wish he could wear this cute little MSU applique outfit I made him to the first football game!!

AND I can't wait for him to get home to put him in some of these cute tee's!

****Ok, so Hate maybe a strong word, but Ryan's not a real big fan of anything monogrammed or with porter's name on it...he probably won't mind these so much considering I made them so they were free (or at least really cheap considering what i normally pay for them!!)
